When you go out to your placement you'll have your math manipulative bag to use however student get tired of counting with the same old items. They like new things. Now don't misunderstand their "new" is our OLD JUNK. Using items you have at home you will make 10 counting collection bags. Do NOT include food items, or any of your current math manipulatives. Common items are cotton balls, buttons, paper clips, pop tops. Don't go buy anything search through your junk drawer or if you are a parent go find those stashes of old game pieces etc. The one food item you could use would be dried beans like lima beans. Don't use items that are tiny like popcorn they are hard for students to keep track of.



Put the items in plastic bags like the examples in d2L and then arrange them so I can see what you have gathered. Upload pictures of the bags. Please DON'T upload 10 photos. Arrange the bags so that there are 3-4 bags in each photo. Also Don't put the quantity on the bag, this steals the learning from the students.
